Students advance in rank by performing the required skills for their belt rank at a formal testing before a panel of certified instructors who judge their performance and recommend a change to the new rank or a no change. At a testing, black belt students may also be testing for instructor certification. Testing Dates See Calendar for testing dates. Local/Regional Testing Local and regional testings are held at the end of each testing cycle. There are 6 testing cycles per year, one every two months (February, April, June, August, October, and December). All students who have successfully completed the minimum age and minimum number of required training hours, and are recommended by their instructor, are eligible to participate in a testing. Other regional Taekwondo America schools may test on other weekends. Students who cannot attend our testing may test at one of the regional school testings (with Mr. Alexander's approval). Testing students must wear a complete, clean, and pressed approved uniform, bring a complete set of sparring equipment (orange belt and above), and be ready to test at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled testing time.
